QUESTIONS

What does my dog learn in your programs? Dogs that need basic obedience or a refresher with them will learn the foundation obedience cues and behaviors: Come, Sit, Stay, Lay Down, leave it, Loose lead walking, heel, general rules for a well-behaved dog in the home. Ensuring these core behaviors are learned are essential to have general control of your dog. On top of those, our courses are customized to what you (the owner) requests and we add those goals to the list. If your dog needs work outside the home; to learn to be calm in the real world, special behaviors you would like, or problem behaviors you want to get rid of, we can do so.

For the board and train programs, what if I can’t pick my dog up on the weekends? If you live far away, cannot travel each week, or are going on vacation during your dog's board and train program, we can board your dog over the weekend. (added charge). This will be approved on a case-by-case basis for the weeks you choose. Please reach out so we can discuss options.

For board and train programs, do I get help over the weekend and after the program ends? Our board and train program is designed to empower you to be successful at home. You will receive guidance, tips, and resources from us going into your weekend. During the weekend, you can reach out to us if you have a question. However, we highly suggest that you troubleshoot behaviors on your own and write down what you struggled with and what you had success with. This allows us to get a better picture of what needs to be worked on moving forward. It also gives you the unique opportunity to get a snapshot of how working with your dog will be. You also receive access to our owner go-home guide, Text and phone call assistance from us , and 2 follow up assistant sessions after your program if you have problems or questions.

Can you help with reactive dogs? We can create a training program that can lower your dog’s reactivity to different stimulus, yes. For severe human and dog reactivity, we will evaluate your dog at the consultation and offer our program recommendations for the best possible outcome. We don't work with aggression cases at this time.

Can you help with anxious dogs? Instilling confidence in anxious dogs is the core focus. Depending on the level of their anxiety, some dogs take longer getting used to different situations and lowering their reactivity. It also is determined by their history, personality, and of course training investment and techniques to rid them of their anxiety. We evaluate that in our behavioral consultation to give you the best tools and program recommendations.

Do you offer puppy training? We love all puppies, however, from our experience , the best times to start puppy training depends on the program you are interested in. For private lessons we recommend starting at 3 months of age or older . For board and train programs we do require that the pup is at least 5 months old before beginning our training and has all of his/her shots and vaccinations.

Can you teach my dog to walk properly on the leash, without pulling? Proper on-leash behavior is one of our most requested services and is both a priority behavior goal in all of our programs.

All training we do outside of positive reinforcement methods is discussed with the owners to review and decide their preferences and goals. Our staff are animal behaviorists and are well versed in the science and applications behind all behavior modification techniques and tools and thoroughly review your dog's behavior, personality, demeanor, history, and other factors. and if we recommend training tools and tactics outside of positive reinforcement and force free methods we will give you the pro's and cons prior to utilizing them.

Can you teach my dog to follow commands leash free? It all depends on your dog; however, we do pride ourselves on helping your dog understand the difference between being on the leash and off leash as well as how to behave under both circumstances. Teaching leash free cues with strong dog reliability is also dependent on the training techniques chosen . All positive reinforcement-based vs balanced training approaches for example. It is however standard with the board & train program offerings of 15- and 20-day lengths with a balanced training approach utilized.
